Jive makes its Producteev task management app free for unlimited users

Eliminating the limit on the number of people who can use Jive Software's last-year-acquired social task management application Producteev for free within a company, Jive has recently revealed that Producteev's features can now be used for free by teams and companies of any size.

Jive also said that it has plans underway to roll out a premium fee-based version of the Producteev application later this year. That version of the app will be deeply integrated with Jive's flagship enterprise social networking (ESN) software suite.

Campaign to give patients a voice on NHS

A review is being carried out on death rates of patients and people are now being given a chance to participate in the campaign to share their experience of Lincolnshire's hospitals.

A team is being led by NHS England medical director Sir Bruce Keogh and it is reviewing United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust, which runs hospitals including Boston's Pilgrim, is one of 14 across the country to be reviewed.

Hundreds of patients had died due to sub-standard care at the mid-Staffordshire hospital and this turned out to be a scandal in which the review is being done.

Aston Martin unveils its CC100 Speedster Concept Car to mark 100th anniversary

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Aston Martin, the company's new concept car - the CC100 Speedster Concept Car - recently made its international debut, by completing a lap of the renowned Nordschleife at Germany's 24 Hours of Nurburgring race.

Designed and built by Aston Martin at its global headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, in less than six months, and inspired by the company's famous Le Mans victory, the CC100 Speedster clearly offers some noteworthy 'glimpses of potential future design direction.'

HTC One short supply may end soon

In an indication that the shortages in the supply of the HTC One smartphone - which presently is one of the best and most popular handsets - will be ending soon, HTC's North Asia president Jack Tong revealed in a recent statement that there will be a substantial increase in the production of the handset in the next month or so.

According to Tong, HTC has plans underway to keep pace with the "strong demand" of One, by doubling the handset's production in May, vis-a-vis the production in April. The company will further increase the production of the handset in June.

3 cancer compounds move to Phase III development

Moxetumomab pasudotox, which is a treatment for unresponsive or relapsed hairy cell leukaemia patients, has seen a patient being enrolled for its Phase II clinical trial.

Those moving ahead to Phase III clinical development are three of its cancer compounds. One of the core areas of therapy are oncology and with this, new molecular entities are developed.

Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program is sponsoring the trial. This comes under the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diganosis at the US National Cancer Institute.

Pebble raises US$15 million in Series A funding round; plans to expand its team

In coincidence with the celebration of its first year after being crowd-funded through the Kickstarter crowd-funding site, Pebble Technology has reportedly raised US$15 million in its Series A funding round.

The startup is being backed by Charles River Ventures (CRV); and the funding round was spearheaded by CRV partner George Zachary, who said in one of his recent tweets that Pebble represents his 24th investment.

111 regarded as a service with serious flaws

After waiting for long to speak to someone, there are several patients who hang up after making a call to 111.

The NHS service introduced across England has serious flaws and the safety of people are being risked, GPs warn.

In just about a month, there has been a 300 per cent hike in the number of people who have abandoned calls after waiting for over 30 seconds.

In February, the number of such people was 6976 but in March, this figure rise up to 29,100. This was stated by NHS, England.

In February the overall call length was 14.19 minutes and in March this became 18 minutes.

Close on the heels of Amazon's last-week announcement about the availability of Cloud Player for iOS app for Ford Sync-enabled vehicles, the online retail biggie quietly released a dedicated Cloud Player app for desktop PCs on Monday. The release of the app marks an expansion of Amazon's streaming Cloud Player service which is already available on iOS, Android, and some other devices.

Amazon's new PC-specific Cloud Player app, the release of which was first noticed by Mashable, has been launched as an extension of the company's music streaming service.

Bigwig US wireless carrier AT&T has recently revealed in an announcement that it is launching a new wireless brand - Aio Wireless - for customers who are looking for simple, contract-free, value-geared plans.

Launching Aio (pronounced as A-O) - in a move which has apparently been prompted by smaller rival T-Mobile's "un-carrier" plans -, AT&T said that the new wireless brand is essentially aimed at customers who are interested in "a first-class wireless experience at a value price, without an annual contract."

US federal appeals court judges speak well of Google’s digital book efforts

In an apparent indication that a US federal appeals court is in favor of the value of the contentious Google Books project, three judges on the 2nd U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan spoke well of Google's plans to create the world's biggest digital library.

The judges' opinion in favor of the Google Books project came across during the course of the Wednesday hearing of an appeal which Google had filed against a 2012 verdict by a judge, granting class status to authors represented by lawyers for the Authors Guild.

Health getting affected by not walking enough

Many Brits barely walk and this despite knowing the benefits of exercise, even agreed by British Heart Foundation. This was stated in a poll.

About 25 per cent of people did not even walk for an hour per week, according to YouGov survey, which was conducted on behalf of the charity Ramblers.

Out of 2000 adults questioned, about 43 per cent stated that they did not even walk for two hours every week.

The worst was West Midlands. People here stated that they were walking less than 60 minutes a week.

Mountain View, Calif.-based Google is seeking to overturn a lower-court order that allowed the group of authors to proceed as a class on behalf of other writers.

Four more bird flu deaths in China taking toll to 31

Chinese health authorities has said that a new strain of bird flu is on a prowl in China and it is known as H7N9 and has already claimed 31 lives with 129 people being infected with the strain.

According to the data provided by the Chinese authorities, there were two deaths in the eastern province of Jiangsu; one was from eastern Zhejiang; while another was from central Anhui.

No more details of the victims were provided by the government.

Sexually-transmitted superbug is the challenge for now

A new sexually-transmitted superbug has been warned against by doctors as they can be dangerous than AIDS.

About two years ago, it was in Japan when the antibiotic-resistant strain of gonorrhea HO41 was discovered. The victim was a 31-year-old female sex worker.

Alan Christianson, a doctor of naturopathic medicine, said, "This might be a lot worse than AIDS in the short run because the bacteria is more aggressive and will affect more people quickly. Getting gonorrhea from this strain might put someone into septic shock and death in a matter of days. This is very dangerous."
