St Barts reduces 630 posts

As part of job reduction in the NHS program, the St Barts, the hospital along with London NHS have reduced as many as 630 posts. Out of these, some 250 are nurses. The main idea behind these reductions, as advocated, is to bring about efficiency in savings on the way reducing the overall costs.

The jobs, as reported, have become redundant. And because of this, the workforce will be reduced by as much as 10 per cent. Moreover, the number of consultants' hours will be seeing a cut along with close to 100 beds reductions.

Unions, obviously, have shown their disappointment and disapproval for the same and said that such cuts are going to impact patient care.

In their statements, they have said that ultimately it is going to be the patients who will be suffering because all the nurses are going to disappear from the scene.

Bed shortage is like playing with the lives of patients. Cutting down administration costs are the biggest mistakes that the authorities are doing.

They also added that it is going to be corporate and back office support that will be lost. The government is aiming to reduce £20 billion in form of spending by 2014-15.
