In a new research, it has been found that South Africa's Aids death rate has fallen by nearly 25 percent. This is because of the broadened access to life-saving drugs, which was refused by the government for years to be provided further.
According to the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA), in recent years the Aids mortality rate has been decelerated. It is the effect of the rapid growth of the South Africa’s anti-retroviral programme.
This week the figures of the society were released. It has estimated that there was an impressive decline in the Aids deaths. Last year there were 194,000 deaths due to Aids. But the last six years record was 257,000.
ASSA has also stated that in the year 2003 before the Aids drug level was done, the group has made an estimation that the death rate may go up by 388,000 in the year 2010.
In their latest research, it was informed that out of 10.9 percent of South Africans, near about 5.5 million people were HIV positive last year. Last 5 years figures showed that this infection was dropped 1.5 percent in the ages of 15 to
24 but it was vice-versa in the older ages.
