Babies Born to Obese Moms Face Higher Death Risk: Says Study

A new study has found the rising risk of death of the babies born to the fat mothers. The child has the risk of dying during the birth and in their first year of life.

A study done from Newcastle University in the U. K has found that the dying risk of the baby was twice in the maternal obesity during early pregnancy. More risk was before delivery and up to one year after birth.

In the U. S. about half of the women who have child, are obese. There is an increased risk of maternal obesity. It leads to gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, surgical delivery, and other complications of pregnancy.

However there is still confusion in the impact of mother’s weight during pregnancy on fetal and infant mortality. The relation between this is still unclear.

Researcher Ruth Bell, MD, has said WebMD that now-a-days obesity is a very common problem in our society with many people. To avoid this problem they have to focus prevention measures on girls and youth from now so that they don’t have to face such pregnancy issue when they grow up to a woman.
