The 100 plus rural and urban images in the Royal Geographical Society's `Britain From the Air' in Bath, is keeping shoppers entertained with quirky aerial shots of the UK, in a city centre exhibit.
As Michael Palin, Society Chairman puts it, one all too often forgets just what beauty is to be be found on our doorstep.
The Royal Geographical Society announced it will be putting aerial photographs depicting over a 100 landscapes and scenes from around Britain on display on a city centre street, today.
According to the organisers, `Britain From the Air' celebrates the diversity of the scenery on our doorstep, from dramatic coastlines and mountains to shopping centres and power stations.
Unusual sights like a heart-shaped wood of hawthorn trees in Oare, Wiltshire, an earth-raised sculpture of Sultan the Pit Pony in Caerphilly, Wales are depicted, including symbols of industry and agriculture like a salmon farm in the Shetland Isles.
The exhibition in Bath city centre will also feature a giant walk-on Ordnance Survey map for people to pinpoint the image locations in virtual terms.
Michael Palin, actor, broadcaster and President of the Royal Geographical Society will launch the display next Tuesday.
The exhibition featuring text relating the story of the aerial images, will take place in Bath from 28th September until February end.
