Platini Hospitalized in South Africa after Fainting in a Restaurant

UEFA President and French football prodigy, Michel Platini had to be rushed to a hospital, after he fainted in a Johannesburg restaurant.

Platini, who has been UEFA President, ever since, January of the year 2007, was having dinner at Johannesburg's Le Pigalle restaurant in Sandton.

Early fears that the 55-year-old might have suffered a cardiac arrest were rapidly ruled out by UEFA spokespersons.

The Telegraph quoted William Gaillard, UEFA Spokesperson, as saying that he talked to Platini's assistant, who was with him a few minutes back and it appears that Platini fainted, as he was feeling cold and also had fever.

All the preface tests are negative. He is conscious and is doing fine. Hospital might carry out additional tests because when a renowned person faints, they usually do that.

The assistant also said that doctors have said that there is nothing to worry about and this is quite normal to happen.

On reports that Platini had suffered a cardiac arrest, Gaillard said that when people faint, people tend to imagine the most horrible. That kind of reaction is something that is very normal.

In addition to that, he said that the place was really cold and a lot of people have been falling ill and getting the flu, so, whatever happened may have been due to that.
