Top Chinese Legislator in France to Encourage Cooperation and Exchanges
Chinese top representative, Wu Bangguo is paying visits to the French cities of Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseilles, so as to encourage cooperation and exchanges between the Chinese and French regions.
Wu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, the nation's top legislature, met Jean-Jack Queyranne, President of the Rhone-Alpes Regional Council, on Sunday.
Wu said in Lyon, which is the largest city in Rhone-Alpes region that the purpose of his visit was to further inter-regional development, improve the people-to-people friendship and widen the social and civil basis for state-to-state relations
In the later parts of Sunday, Wu also met Alain Juppe, Mayor of Bordeaux city that is well known for its fine quality wines.
Wu is on an eight-day authorized goodwill visit to France. After conducting meetings with the French national leaders, the top Chinese legislator has been meeting expansively with leaders of regional Governments and Parliaments outside Paris.
Wu promoted the Rhone-Alpes region to increase exchanges and cooperation with China, stating that a few Chinese revolutionary leaders of the old generation, including Deng Xiaoping, were once studying there.
These days, some Chinese cities for example Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan and Suzhou have successful collaboration with the French cities, Wu said.
