Daimler CEO, Dieter Zetsche has said that he aims to make Mercedes-Benz the most fuel efficient premium car brand in the world.
Mercedes-Benz currently has only a few numbers of hybrid and electric ‘projects’ running. The company has to overtake rivals BMW and Audi in order to reach the top position in the efficiency. Both these are company are implementation their efficiency initiative.
BMW is implementing its EfficientDynamics and Audi is implementing various Volkswagen ‘BlueMotion’ derivatives. BMW has set a target of slashing its fleet CO2 emissions by 25 percent by 2020.
Zetsche expressed that the company will be able to overtake its rivals by introducing more hybrid models along with cylinder variant of the S-Class which comes with a six-cylinder as a minimum.
“Some might call this sacrilege – we call it progress. We want to be efficiency world champions, and we will be,” sad a confident Zetsche.
