Germany stated no necessity for French apprehension on Eurostar

The French government has no issues to point finger on Channel train operator Eurostar's thinks to purchase trains from German manufacturer Siemens AG, Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman expressed on Monday.

Early safety tests with the German trains have gone all along very well and Berlin has "great belief in the technical ability” of Siemens engineers, spokesman Steffen Seibert expressed that.

Eurostar honored Siemens a deal earlier this month, but losing French bidder Alstom SA has raise objections. Supported by France's Transport Ministry, it stated that the trains are not up to the mark regarding safety standards led by a French-British committee that controls the Channel Tunnel.

Seibert expressed that they believe that there is no grounds for this French interference. But the important subject is what Eurostar stated and till now it seems as although they desire to let the procedure continue totally normally in spite of the ministerial opposition from Paris.

Siemens' trains are very short than present regulations permit, and they are using "distributed motorization" technique in which motors are put under every carriage. This pattern permits the train to take much more passengers than the Alstom trains at present run throughout the tunnel by Eurostar and they have engines located at whichever end of the train, as existing system requires.
