The Quebec Liberals had forced a highly controversial language law on Tuesday morning thorough a legislature after a night long debate on the previous day. The government of Premier Jean Charest had used its slim majority to pass the new bill in legislature as the Supreme Court of Canada imposed a deadline of Friday to pass the bill.
The new bill would restrict access to the English public school for the French Quebecers and immigrants for the next three years. The bill also includes that the eligibility of a child will be subjected to be approved by the education department bureaucrats by a complex points system.
In the last year the Supreme Court of Canada ruled on an earlier bill but that was declared unconstitutional. The separatist Parti Quebecois has accused the federalist Liberals of abandoning the French language rights. According to them the law is allowing the rich Quebecers to buy advanced English education.
Meanwhile the PQ is emerged as the strong supporters of the language law of Quebec which restricts the French people and immigrants from attending the English public schools.
