Volkswagen to launch second generation Touareg in Feb 2011 in India

German auto maker, Volkswagen will launch the second generation of Touareg in the Indian market by 2011 February.

The company claims that that new version will offer better performance and fuel economy compared to older versions. The large sized Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) has not sold large volumes in country even as it is one of the best in its segment.

The new versions will be 208kg lighter than the existing versions and might be powered by a 4Motion all-wheel drive and advanced Stop-start technology. The vehicle claims to offer a smooth drive on road as well as off the road terrains.

The company has revealed technical information about the vehicle but it is likely to feature V6 petrol, V8 petrol and the V8 diesel engines. The company might also release a hybrid variant, which can run at a speed of 50kmph in full electric mode.

The company has not released the pricing details of the vehicle yet.
