IBM renews IT contract with Westpac

IBM will continue to supply infrastructure services as it has renewed its IT contract with Westpac Banking Corporation for another five years to come.

IBM will continue to hold responsibility for supplying key infrastructure services, such as desktop, print, security operations, data centre, mainframe, and midrange storage.

Westpac said that the deal would provide it with extensive flexibility to meet its business requirements.

Commenting on the deal, Bob McKinnon from the financial institution said, "I'm proud to say that our relationship with IBM has come a long way over the past couple of years and we've made significant inroads to improve the reliability of our systems."

McKinnon added that the flexibility of the deal will help them to deliver enhanced efficiencies via the implementation of new technologies and the achievement of the Strategic Investment Priorities (SIPs) programs.

IBM's renewed deal with Westpac Banking Corporation will take effect on 1st of December.

IBM's initial $US2.3 billion deal with Westpac was signed in 2000, for a period of 10 years.
