Planning of a new super clinic

Planning of a new super clinic

A peak advocacy group says that Queensland is using less on mental health as compared to other states, even though it has increased support more than the past five years.

The Queensland Alliance (QA) assumed that the state is still getting better from decades of under-funding and more requirements are needed to be spent on imperative community-based services.

QA chief executive officer, Jeff Cheverton held that they would give more importance on this at today's mental health meeting which is held in Brisbane.

He thought that at present less than 5 per cent of the mental health financial plan stays with community support.

He added that their investment plans should be modified as in other countries they spend almost a third of their mental health budget on community organisations and services.

According to him, People want help in their homes and areas. They don't want to be so ailing that finally they need a hospital bed.

Mr. Cheverton believed that about 75 per cent of all mental illness develops in people before they acquire the age of 25.
