Ford Motor’s Q2 profit at $2.6 billion

Ford Motor has reported profit of $2.6 billion during the second-quarter, and is expecting to recover from debt by the end of 2011.

The company has earned profit of $4.7 billion during the first half of this year, and has outperformed in the US market.

Ford is on the way to earn profit of $7.2 billion, matching its profit figures during 1999.

Chief Financial Officer of Ford, Lewis W. K. Booth said, "I'm not sure it's going to be a record year, but it's going to be a great year. We've done what we said we were going to do. It's just perhaps a little bit faster than we thought."

The second quarter profit is equal to 61 cents a share as compared to loss of 21 cents a share during the same period in the previous year.

The revenue from its automotive operations has increased from loss of $1.1 billion in previous year to earnings of $2.1 billion.

The company posted positive cash flow of $2.6 billion in the second quarter with reserve of $21.9 billion as on June 30.

In 2008, it posted loss of $14.8 billion and was paying out debt of $2 billion every month.
