French Truffles Fast Losing Popularity Due to Entry of Chinese Truffles

Just few days are left to celebrate Christmas. However, in between a tragic incident has taken place in France regarding truffle theft issues. Drome, a truffle grower in Southern France, has shot dead a middle aged stranger who has been suspected to steal black truffles from his land.

Truffle is very precious agricultural product in France. It is used to prepare delicious dishes and ice cream. The fact is that this stranger was seen roaming on the contour of the privately owned stretch of farm land which is in possession of Drome.

The farmer monitored his movements which seemed to be suspicious and point of ill intention.

Under suspicion, he directly backfired bullets directing the hunting gunpoint at the stranger. He was severely wounded and eventually he succumbed to injuries in local hospital.

Black truffles are popular in France. However, there is another threat which seems to disturb the peasants’ community. China grows truffles at cheap cost. Therefore they are able to export this vital agricultural product to France. For this reason, the French market is facing downtime in getting revenues by selling dark truffles.
