Samantha Stosur Choosing to Remain Absent in Commonwealth Games

French Open finalist, Samantha Stosur is reported to have decided against participating in the Delhi Commonwealth Games, as she wants to concentrate on the end of the WTA Tournaments.

In addition, the Australian number one male tennis ace, Lleyton Hewitt has accompanied the country's top seed in deciding not to join the Games, unveils 'Australian Associated Press' report.

Hewitt, who recently faced a defeat in the second round in Atlanta, triggered Australia's Davis Cup to avoid their tie in India last year, because of security issues and has again announced not to compete in the country, citing similar reasons.

Stosur is currently fourth seed to get herself booked at the season-ending Sony Ericsson Championships, in Doha, however, Justine Henin and French Open champion, Francesca Schiavone are also on the similar tracks.

Earlier, Commonwealth Games did not include tennis. But Delhi 2010 games will witness tennis making its debut. However, the scenario is deemed to be a little gloomy as Britain's top seeds Andy Murray, Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis, are also not participating in the event.

It is reported that the Games will include five events, including women's singles, men's singles, women's doubles, men's doubles and mixed doubles. All the events are slated to be held from October 4 and will go up to October 10.
