Richard Gasquet of France easily defeated Yuri Schukin from Kazakhstan with a 6-3, 6-4 victory. He will now be facing Nicolas Almagro from Spain in the finals of the Swiss Open. The result was on expected lines, as the tennis fans had put money on the Frenchman to win this match.

Richard Gasquet and Nicolas Almagro will be facing each other for their second ATP Tour title and they will be playing each other next week on Sunday in Gstaad.

Gasquet easily defeated Yuri Schukin, who is ranked 147th and was playing in the first ever semifinal match in his career.

On the other hand, Almagro faced a stiff resistance from countryman Daniel Gimeno-Traver 7-6 (7), 3-6, 6-3. The match was very close and Almagro was lucky to emerge as the winner.

Almagro admitted that he used to practice with Daniel, when both of them were teenagers. He also agreed that he was very lucky to win the match.

Nicolas Almagro will be playing his ninth ATP final and he has played all these matches on clay courts. He also won his sixth ATP title almost two weeks ago in Bastad.

Gasquet will be playing in his third final this year. He won his sixth ATP career title in Nice before the French Open. He had won the Swiss Open in the year 2006.
