Kaymer Grabs the Top Position in French Open

Martin Kaymer, the defending champion managed to shot an even-par 71 to grab a one-shot lead, following the third round of the French Open on Saturday.

The German completed at 9-under 204, a stroke ahead of Alejandro Canizares of Spain and Steve Webster of England.

Kaymer managed to complete 54 holes at nine-under 204 and is one stroke ahead at Le Golf National.

The Spaniard double-bogeyed the 16th and 18th holes to shoot a two-over 73 and fall out of first position. Canizares faces a tie for second position with Steve Webster, who recorded a 70 on Saturday, at eight-under 205.

Among others knotted in fourth position at minus-seven include Miguel Angel Jimenez (66), Luke Donald (67), Damien McGrane (67), Francesco Molinari (68), Jyoti Randhawa (70) and Robert-Jan Derksen (72).

With the delays cropped up due to thunderstorms, tournament officials announced to divide the field, with half going off No. 1 and the other half off of 10. The players, who were scheduled to move out in threesomes, had to face the consequences.

After four and a half hours, the third round finally begin, however, it wasn't witnessed to be a good beginning for the third-round lead.
