Honda recalls 427,000 vehicles in US and Canada

Japanese auto-manufacturer, Honda has made recall of 427,000 vehicles in the United States and Canada due to problem related to ignition interlock mechanism.

Damage in the ignition locking devices could allow the ignition key to be removed even if the vehicle is not in the park position.

The vehicle could be rolled away and thus causing an accident.

In United States, the company has made recall of 197,000 Accord and 117,000 Civic cars from the 2003 model year and recall of around 69,000 Element vehicles from the 2003 and 2004 model years.

A similar recall of 18,000 Honda Accords, 21,000 Honda Civics, 2,000 Acura 1.7ELs from the 2003 model year, and 3,000 Honda Elements from the 2003 and 2004 model years were made in Canada.

Last week, the auto-maker has recalled 585 Elements in US from the 2010 model year to fix the problem related to automatic transmission shift cable.

Honda has received complaints from the customers related to the gear selector mechanism, but the report of any incidents or injuries has not received.

This is the third time that Honda has made recall for the similar problem after 2003 and 2005.
