The ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ special Friday night, will see a bevy of stars participating in the one hour television special for raising funds for cancer research.
News anchors Katie Couric (CBS), Brian Williams (NBC) and Diane Sawyer (ABC) will host the special that will air live and commercial-free on all four major network stations and a number of cable outlets.
Actor Michael Douglas, 65, who starred in the upcoming movie ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’," and who was recently diagnosed with a tumour in his throat, will be among some of the stars taking part in the TV special. Currently, he is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatment.
Douglas, participating via a taped segment, joins Reese Witherspoon, Sofia Vergara, Christina Applegate, Michael C. Hall, Gabrielle Union, Seth MacFarlane, Mandy Moore and other stars, who have been previously announced.
The special airs 8:00 p. m. ET on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Bio, Current TV, Discovery Health, E!, G4, HBO, HBO Latino, MLB Network, mun2, Showtime, Smithsonian Channel, The Style Network, TV One and VH1.
Many celebrity cancer survivors like Michael C. Hall, Christina Applegate, Lance Armstrong and Maura Tierney will also make an appearance.
