Marseille coach's hopes shattered after 1-0 defeat

He had thought that the a win during the Champions League will help Marseille start the French champion's season with a win, but a defeat during the first match itself put an end to it.

Didier Deschamps, coach of Marseille is now aware the kind of trouble his team is in after they lost the match to Spartak Moscow. They lost the match 1-0.

At present, Marseille is at the 13th position. The good thing, however, is that the match they lost was the first in the five long series.

Their next match is with Arles and it is most probably going to win this match. In that case their position in the short but very competitive champion's league will be safe for some time.

The players are of different view. Steve Mandanda, goalkeeper of the team believes that it is now high time that the team begins to play some serious football and give up on playing just attractive games.

He said, "We have to pick things up quickly and start winning again. We have to win, even if we don't play as well."
