Vice President of the Swiss central bank, Thomas Jordan told that the franc's refreshed growth against the euro is creating a threat to the economic development of 2011, indicating a new concern regarding the currency.
He told during a program at Reichenau, Switzerland that was held yesterday that the ascent of the franc has become worse in the last few months. There has been a rise in volatility due to the European debt issue and the profits of the currency are creating a threat to a few exporters.
The Swiss franc saw a growth of 5.8% against the euro in the last couple of months, touching a high on 30th December with European leaders fighting to restrain the area's fiscal issue.
Jordan did not say if the Swiss National Bank is thinking about a fresh round of foreign-currency buying to make the franc weak, when asked to respond.
The Swiss currency, even in this financial crisis touched a high of 1.2402 as compared to the euro in December last year.
According to Jordan, Switzerland has great interest for Europe for resolving its debt issues because a constantly declining problem would most probably heave the franc higher and make SNB's work difficult.
