Laughter helps women getting pregnant

vitro-fertilisationA study has shown that laughter increases the chances of success of in-vitro fertilisation and that means that it helps women getting pregnant who use this technique.

The study that was published in Fertility and Sterility gave this result. The team of researchers was headed by Dr Shevach Friedler and it came from Israel. They showed that the success rate is higher for women who are entertained by professional or medical clown. It is so because it helps the embryos to get transferred to the womb.

For studying, some 219 were observed. These are the women who were visited by a clown for 15 minutes during the embryo transfer. 36 per cent of these women became pregnant as compared to just 20 per cent of those who went for the treatment in a normal way.

Dr Friedler, of the Assaf Harofeh Medical Centre said that he wanted to study the impact of laughter as an anti-stress mechanism and they instead found out the usage in fertility treatment. It is, he added, like a blessing for those who want a child. It is beneficial and there is no doubt about that.
