The Tweed Valley General Practice network plans to take part in a program named Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. It is an awareness and safety training program.
Federal Government is financing this network. Moreover it is supporting other GP Networks all over NSW and Australia. Its program named Closing the Cap is done for making a new Indigenous Health Practice Incentives Program.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health project officer, Corinne Martin has stated that general practices have received financial spurs to join hands with this program. This is done with the aim to sign patients and provide best care for patients suffering from chronic disease.
According to Ms Martin, they have made an extension in the training with aim to have links with health professionals, including pharmacists and non-government agencies. This is because they have expressed a curiosity in learning more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.
The cultural awareness and safety training program is planned to crop up in the coming month.
