Dish Gets Double Profits in Q1

Reports suggested that Dish Network Corp, which is the second-largest satellite TV broadcaster have reported its first quarter profit statement on Monday.

The Englewood, Colo., company added around 58,000 customers after 3 quarters of losses. The total subscriber became 14.2 million.

Net income recorded was $549 million, which is $1.22 per share. The previous year record shows that there was $231 million or 52 cents per year.

Dish is currently paying TiVo $290 million and it has approximately $517 million in the fund. On the other hand Dish and EcoStar will pay the remaining $200 million in instalments by 2017, with Dish paying 95% of it.

"Michael was the visionary behind our acquisition of Blockbuster", Charlie Ergen, Dish's chairman and CEO, said in a statement.

Dish Network is the second-largest TV broadcaster and has reported a double profit than the market analysts have expected.

The strong subscriber is the trick behind the success of this giant company. Dish got a company named as Blockbuster Inc in a bankruptcy auction for $320 million. This will enhance the broadcasting business for the company.

Dish and EchoStar Corp has agreed to pay $500 million to TiVo in order to settle a score.
