A 13-year-old girl has been relentlessly pushing her selfless efforts for heart and stroke research. Amanda Belzowski was reported to be in news as she took part in Sunday’s Becel Ride for Heart for 50 km along with over 13,000 cyclists and inline skaters.

The participation was to an extent that almost $4 million, a record rise of $600,000 than last year, were raised during the race from Gardiner Expressway and the Don Valley Parkway.

The teenager had been associated with this noble cause from the very begging, and even started her own lemonade stand in 1999. To the surprise of almost everybody, Amanda induced almost $100,000 to the foundation in 2008 and she is expecting to target the mark of $200,000 this June.

Though the lemonade stand is being handles by Joshua now, Amanda’s 5-year-old brother, almost $9,000 have been raised for heart research on a rainy May day this year.

Nonetheless, she is planning to raise funds through high school, the next target would be Lemon-Stock, a Battle of the Bands meets Glee competition, under the leadership of Canadian singer Danny Fernandes. The amount generated from this noble initiative would support three charities, including the SickKids Foundation.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Amanda added, “It just feels so amazing. And I always tell them that you’re never too little to make a big difference in the world”.
