Cooking grease left unattended led to the fire, said a fire official. On Friday night, on Brunswick Street, fire broke out in an apartment complex around 11 p. m.

It took two struggling hours for the 25 fire units from Truro and Bible Hill departments to overcome the fire.

Truro Fire Service Deputy Chief Al Sutherland said, “And, again, it was the infamous grease fire in an inappropriate container, or a not-approved container, and left unattended".

No injuries have been reported after the incident. However, an occupant of the apartment was sent to Colchester Regional Hospital assuming him to be stressed by the incident. The man is presumed to be in his early 50’s.

Sutherland notified that three occupants have been shifted from the apartment for time being. The fire has caused extensive damage to the kitchen section and smoke damage to another section of the apartment, he said.

Sutherland stated that though the building was insured but it is unsure that the residents have the personal apartment coverage or not.

It was the smoke detectors which brought the fire into notice and it was just an accident, said Sutherland.
