The Cincinnati-based Company, Procter & Gamble, has recalled its Oral-B alcohol-free mouthwash after it was found to contain harmful bacteria. The two products being recalled by the manufacturer are Oral B Anti-Cavity Dental Rinse- Alcohol Free and Oral-B Anti-Bacterial with Fluoride - Alcohol Free Daily Use Mouthrinse.
The manufacturer has said that these microbial contaminations do not pose any risk to healthy people but may prove harmful for people with weak immune system, including those who are suffering from cystic fibrosis. The recall has been monitored by Health Canada.
The Company has revealed that the recall was issued after the detection of microbial levels in some products produced at one of its contract manufacturing facilities.
Health Canada has confirmed that the mouthwashes are voluntarily recalled due to possible microbial contamination.
Procter & Gamble has urged the retailers to immediately stop selling the product. The manufacturer has advised the people to stop using the contaminated product and contact Procter & Gamble for a refund.
Health Canada has advised the people to call on the helpline number 1-866-234-2345 in case they have developed any infection due to the use of product.
On Wednesday, the shares of the Company closed at $64.64 on the New York Stock Exchange.
