Working Women Severely Prone to Depression, Claim Researchers

Making a shocking revelation regarding the association between depression and hectic lifestyle followed by women these days, a recent study conducted by researchers from Germany’s Dresden University of Technology has claimed that women are nearly two-and-a-half times more susceptible to depression as compared to men.

Researchers revealed that more prone to depression these days compared with the odds of depression among women four decades ago. In addition, most of depression cases invade during the reproductive period, between 16 and 42 years of age.

The increased risk is attributable to the fact that women, in our time, are going through a busy power-packed lifestyle, hectic day-to-day condition in order to juggle their careers, interests and of course, families. The saddle of heeding children, taking dependability for family along with managing a job has sparked and spiked the rates of depression among women.

Experts believe that in comparison with the depression cases being diagnosed in recent times, the number of confirmed depression cases in women were more than half in 70s. Though both men and women suffer depression, with initial signs being noticed at a middling 19 years of age, the frequency of depression is hastier among women.

Revealing about the peak era of depression in women, lead researcher Prof. Hans Ulrich Wittchen claimed that during 25 to 40 years-of-age, the frequency of depression attacks increasing fourfold.
