On Tuesday, Lions Gate Hospital, North Vancouver, received a donation amounting $4 million from an 84-year-old business titan.
The above donation was made by Mr. Djavad Mowafaghian, who after gaining a big fortune in his contracting business running in Iran and Canada, gave $40 million from the success made to numerous medical and educational causes in B. C. According to reports, he has also given some share of the gained money in his native Iran.
Last year, the man suffered heart stroke post which he was admitted to the Lions Gate Hospital, where the staff treated his illness and his condition is absolutely fine now. It is after the services he received from the staff that he donated the amount and told the authorities to consider him only as a thankful hand and not a donor.
"A group of knowledgeable physicians and a group of beautiful angels who work here as nurses provided me with the best care possible on this planet", he said.
Mr. Mowafaghian also added in his statement that by providing some help to others he is passing his mother's teachings of kindness and generosity.
Moreover he has also donated $15 million for the construction of a brain research and treatment facility at UBC, and another $6 million for a new wing at B. C. Children's Hospital.
