This is a definite misconception that male bodies are interested to flaunt their rippling muscles and abs.

Recently, some researchers from Concordia and Manitoba Universities ran studies and found that six-pack abs is no option for males today as they rather prefer an average build.

"Not all boys aspire to have lean, muscular or idealized male bodies that are commonplace in popular culture. In many cases, boys who took part in our study were staunchly critical of idealized male images", said Prof Moss E. Norman in the journal Men and Masculinities.

Prof. Norman led the above study at Concordia's Simone de Beauvoir Institute. The nine-month study was joined by boys aged 13-15. Total four in-depth interviews were run over 19 focus groups.

Prof. further added in his statement that during the study, his team noticed that most of the males are not over-concerned about their appearances as they find the issue very problematic and feminine. Also, he said that majority of boys was comfortable to express their own thoughts to compare them with the ideals that are usually depicted by media.

The participants were more concerned about the fact that sculpted bodies are majorly seen as unnatural today because one can get same only with the help of steroids or zealous weight-lifting.
