Circumcision of male genitals is not cheap and good way for avoiding the incurable disease of HIV/AIDS, reveal various global financial experts.
Bjorn Lomborg, Director of Copenhagen Consensus Center states that popularizing the idea of getting circumcised will require a lot of investment. A big movement needs to be organized to encourage men to take up circumcision, therefore he emphasizes on the need to create some reasonable movements to get the aspect noticed.
Some observers have analyzed movements related to AIDS fighting that require less investment and response is beyond satisfactory limit. Researchers found that most effective measure have been preventing the transfer of infection from mother to child by providing HIV vaccines.
Every year, 2.5 million people contract HIV and 2 million people die due to the disease, with 70% of the people contracting and dying belonged to Africa.
The researchers find circumcision as not an effective measure to prevent the disease, but Marelize Gorgens, HIV prevention coordinator at World Bank considers that the practice is capable of avoiding the disease. As per Lomborg, "Making blood transfusions safe costs almost nothing, but we're not doing it".
