Safety concerns have forced furniture behemoth Ikea to summon up 1,608 mirror doors which were sold with one of Ikea's wardrobes. As per reports, the manufacturer is highly concerned about the safety of its users, which is apparently at risk as it is being suspected that the mirrors could detach, drop and potentially shatter.
Ikea on Tuesday revealed that it is going to recall its doors which were sold along with the Pax Aurland wardrobe unit following 14 recent reports which claimed incidents of detached mirror. While releasing a statement, Ikea said that one of the incidents led to minor injuries.
The concerned doors have supplier number 12650 and model number 101-604-51 and the company has revealed that the doors were sold during August 2009 and September this year.
In addition, Ikea said that the doors carry date stamp printed near the lower border, at the back of the mirror door.
As a result of suspicions looming the possibilities of mirrors getting detached, IKEA North America Service has recently released a voluntary evoke for in excess of 2,200 wardrobe mirror doors, sold with Pax Aurland.
The voluntary recall is primarily because of a possible laceration threat.
The recall was mutually declared health Canada and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). In excess of 1,700 mirror doors were vended in America and nearly 500 were in Canada since October last year.
The mirror doors are apparently designed form the mirror of glass and foil-coated particleboard. The mirror is held securely by metal fastenings at both top and bottom of the door. The measurement of mirror door is nearly 93 inches high, 191/2 inches wide and 7/8 inches thick. The company revealed that the suspected doors were made in Sweden and were retailed for roughly $50.
