Authorities Suggest To Ban Smoking In Cars

Cigarette smoking is one of the unhealthiest habits across the world and it is also responsible for causing a number of negative impacts on health. Besides smokers, a majority of second hand smokers are also likely to suffer almost same consequences due to inhaled puffs.

As an attempt to prevent people from the harms of passive smoking, experts have suggested to impose a strict ban on smoking in cars, across the United Kingdom. Consequently, the British Medical Association has hailed the authorities with a request to extend the existing ban that restricts people to enjoy their puffs on public places and referred to several evidences to show that it is dangerous.

In addition, the BMA authorities have explained that practicing the habit in any closed place such as a car increases the particular risk for children as well as kids with the higher exposure to toxins, around 23% more. Further, they insisted that children and the elderly people are more likely to suffer because of weaker immune system as compared to youngsters or adults.

"We do not believe that legislation is the most effective way to encourage people to change their behavior”, added a Spokesman for the Department of Health in England while commenting on the matter. Further, the Spokesman has suggested introducing a marketing campaign during the spring season outlined with a focus to address the issue and to educate people about the negative impacts of smoking in homes or cars.

While briefing about the harmful effects of cigarette smoking, an expert from the BMA, Dr. Vivienne Nathanson, notified that every year smoking tends to execute more than 80,000 people, particularly in England.

Simultaneously, some countries including South Africa as well as a few states of the United States, Canada and Australia have already introduced the same legislation.
