Authorities on Friday directed to close two wards at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, following an outbreak of the Norovirus bug. In addition, they also closed the third ward on Sunday as a precautionary measure and urged patients, suffering episodes of vomiting, sickness and diarrhoea, as well as visitors to restrict their hospital visits, especially when it is not so necessary.
While briefing the ward closure, authorities of the Royal Sussex County Hospital anticipated that the closed wards will be opened shortly, most probably from Monday. “The best way is to shut the ward and to have really strict controls. It's a very closed environment where there are lots of people together. It does just spread”, added a spokeswoman for the Brighton and Sussex University Hospital NHS Trust, while notifying that the unit has not accepted no new admissions recently.
The Spokeswomen emphasised that the hospital authorities are practicing strict policies for cleaning the places in order to curb the bug spread. As per reports, the bug has infected around 9 patients along with two nurses on Chichester ward. She insisted that the situation is manageable.
Meanwhile, sources have confirmed that the members of the Sussex Parks as well as Recreation board have outlined policies to observe a meeting on the community center on Monday at 6:30 pm, with a motive to discuss the list of items, including decision on the Born Learning Trail, a contract regeneration for the 4th of July fireworks as well as a possible rummage sale at Sussex Village Park. Organisers have hailed the residents for their active participation, and notified that the event is open for all natives who are eager to know more about the community.
