In a tragic incident, Heidi Von Palleske lost her parents due to asbestos. Her father used to work in asbestos mine which became reason for his death and her mother inhaled lots of asbestos from her father’s clothes fibre.
This lead her develop one of the rare diseases of asbestos and she lost her life. Before dying, she affirmed to her daughter to make efforts to put overall ban on asbestos. She has pulled up her socks to fulfill her mother’s last wish and has knocked court’s doors.
Her hearing has been scheduled for Thursday where she would appeal for asbestos export ban to developing countries as she does not want any other child to get ‘asbestos orphan’.
There is a great possibility that she would get success in her plea as Canada has announced the closure of its 130-year-long asbestos kingdom. Recently, it has closed the last mine which was in Quebec.
This closure is something which has brought an end to historic milestone for the Canadian asbestos industry. This industry was one thing of which Canada used to boast of and dominated the asbestos production in the whole world.
All the advocates of asbestos industry need to mourn over its closure as chances are there of its reopening. Montreal asbestos trader Baljit Chadha has been trying to reopen Jeffrey asbestos mine in Quebec.
The Government is not in complete favor to shut down their asbestos business and has affirmed that asbestos mining could be done in controlled situation, which would not be harmful.
There are people and especially children who have raised concerns over the viewpoints of the government. They were of the view that it feels devastated when grandparents lose their life due to asbestos and they do not want any more deaths in the world due to asbestos.
