It has been revealed according to new reports that flu vaccination programs in Wirral are not doing good, and the rates for the flu jab are really low as of now. It was further added that merely one in five women expecting children actually take the jab to safeguard the health of themselves and their children

Latest figures are of the view that merely 19.2% pregnant women have come forward to receive the flu vaccine in comparison to the 21.4% that came from the North West. Many people don’t understand how essential it is to get them vaccinated against flu.

They tend to think of it as a trivial illness that doesn’t need much attention. The truth is that it can be potentially dangerous at times. Considering the harsh winter this year, there is special need for the flu jab, for people of all ages. Especially the ones with a weaker immune system, pregnant women, older people and children need to get themselves vaccinated.

“Last winter across the country more than 450 people died as a direct result of flu and, if you are in an at-risk group, you are about 10 times more likely to die than people who are not at risk”, revealed Dr. Brian Keeble, consultant from NHS.

There is need for one and all to safeguard themselves from the disease in order to enjoy a memorable Christmas, and not keep in bed for weeks with dripping nose and watery eyes.

One’s safety is in his/ her own hands and it must be made sure that all family members are secure from the risk of flu this season.
