Smokers Urged to Delay Bid to Butt Out

Smokers Urged to Delay Bid to Butt Out

As per recent reports, it has been revealed that an anti-smoking lobby unit dubbed Quit Victoria has recognized that it’s time for you to put all of your New Year's resolutions on the back burner. In this regard, Quit has claimed that though kicking the butt is the most apt method for starting the New Year, postponing the same for a fortnight will certainly prove effective in offering you an extra bit of time for making all the needed preparations.

While expressing its intentions regarding the proposed delay, Luke Akin, the support programs manager of Quit claimed that, “It means planning to go smoke-free isn't lost in the busy holiday season. The overwhelming majority of smokers want to quit, and more smokers aim to quit at New Year than any other time”.

But still, it is mostly witnessed during the time of festivities that people find it dicey to get rid of their smoking habit, and they are therefore easily tempted to carry on with smoking throughout the rest of the year.

Mr. Akin was of the opinion that by practicing the approach for a couple of weeks in January for the sake of formulating a clear-cut plan, smokers can receive effective and significant understanding regarding the factors influencing their habit and along with that, they will be able to figure out a perfect approach for themselves. By the use of such delay during the initial weeks of the year ahead, smokers will get time for thinking and rethinking thoughts about their benefits related to kicking the butt. In general, it has been observed that though a large number of people make New Year resolution of quitting smoking, the majority of them fail even before the end of first few weeks.

Therefore, smokers must not go all out on cold turkey right from the outset and must not feel humiliated on not being able to leave their vices; they must instead carry on with their attempts of quitting again and again till the time they succeed.
