It has been recently revealed that Lego, the toy making firm, is come up with a new mission of making toys that are more relative to the different facets of a woman, rather than simply the out and out girly, pink sort of collection.
This new drive of theirs has however been protested against and the protesters are of the view that Lego is selling out girls. They were further advised to revisit the earlier campaign by their own company that used to feature tomboyish featured girls, which were more genuine and close to the real likes and dislikes of people.
This new protest has been sparked after Lego has planned to reveal a new collection which features 5 different models, which are going to be featured as friends. These girls are going to have different personalities and they are going to be marketed for the little girls, with different likes and dislikes. This is something that is being opposed. People are of the view that Lego should go back to the basic block building, because children can use their own creativity to develop characters out of them. They don’t need to be given ‘characterized girls’ who have a set of ideas of their own. After all they are dolls, and they can’t depend on a certain sort of ideology.
There is need to promote a sense of homogeneity in the designs by these large toy making firms, because children look up to them. They need to be rational and same for all; they can’t create divides, because children will then try and imitate them, and harm their own personalities in the ordeal.
There isn’t a need for stories to be created before hand by toy firms; children can do it on their own.
