Unattended Patient Left To Die On a Trolley of A&E Department
Many people would think of it as a disgrace in the face of the health system. A seriously ill man was totally ignored for over 20 hours while he was lying on a trolley in a busy A&E department of the hospital after which he ultimately died.
He was supposed to be moved to another hospital and the doctors were just busy while he waited all day in agony. According to his widow, it was highly shameful that there was no one to look after a 77 years old man, who just put aside on a trolley to die. Before he was taken to the emergency room, he was not in the critical condition which is why he was not rushed to the ambulance to be transferred from royal Victoria hospital to Belfast city hospital.
That is why he was just put aside in the trolley waiting for medic to arrive and take him away. After being left on a trolley, sufferer died unnoticed before he was taken to Belfast City Hospital. He was a patient the motor neuron disease and should have been checked after every half hour. But no one bothered for him for nearly the whole day.
The top management has now issued an investigation into the matter and assured that necessary action would be taken. The health minister has also expressed her condolences and asked both the trusts to present her with the report on the events that lead to the man’s death. The trust's medical director Dr. Tony Stevens denied all the allegations and said that proper attention was given to the patients and he did not die unattended Royal’s A&E was under immense pressure for two weeks which is why this incident happened.
