China has seen a booming growth in the recent years, due to which, there has been an ever growing increase in the business jets for the much affluent. Now Kansas based Business jet maker Cessna Aircraft Co. has signed a MOU with Chinese partners to manufacture business jets in China itself. There is a joint venture that has been signed between three companies to produce midsize Cessna business jets and possibly exploring new models for the future.
Scott Donnelly, Chief Executive Officer of Cessna's owner Textron Inc., stated that he was very optimistic that there would be a significant growth of the market in China, looking at the economy which has been growing at a steady rate. So far, the jet industry in China has been dominated by two big names of Bombardier and Gulfstream. These companies usually make larger jets, whereas Cessna is aiming to venture into midsize and small jet market. Currently, there are about 200 aircrafts of the company in China. With the agreement being signed between the companies to build the jets locally, the company hopes that the number would soon surge. The company however declined to comment on the projection of them in the future, only mentioning that the growth would be very robust.
