Teens Can No Longer Use Tanning Beds

It has been recently revealed in a report that there have been bans placed on teens for using tanning salons. This was actually a much-needed development after the rising cases of skin cancer due to the use of tanning beds. The tanning salon owners aren't happy, obviously, and are of the view that this would tend to decrease their customers and reduce their profits as well.

The provincial government has announced that people below the age of 18 aren't going to be allowed to use tanning beds. There is need for more awareness to be spread amongst people that these tanning beds are one of the reasons for increase in the number of skin cancer cases.

Also, it must be noted that they need to steer clear of the use of the same. Especially, teens should be made aware because their skin is still tender and developing and they shouldn't indulge in this ridiculous way of risking their health and safety.

"It is a cancer-causing agent, just like tobacco. I have to respect that it currently is legal to use a tanning salon, but I think increasingly you're going to hear more and more stories of why it's not appropriate to use tanning salons", said VIHA medical health officer Dr. Paul Hasselback.
