According to sources, discussion between the UK Prime Minister, David Cameron and U. S. President, Barack Obama regarding the oil release is on the way of a substantial decision.
Mr. Cameron in his last visit to the US has requested Mr. Obama to release some oil from its stockpiles. The request has been put forward by the Prime Minister in order to meet with the growing demand of petrol across the country and hence, to keep the prices down.
The Business Secretary, Vince Cable, announced that the government has been trying hard, talking with even other nations in order to get oil reserves. He said, “There have been moves in the last few weeks, which are coordinated with the Americans and others, to release some of that stuff into the market to keep prices down”.
Although the country has its own oil reserves, but it has been declared that the government wishes to save them for emergencies. The reserve was last used in July and August 2011, when there was a shortage of supplies from the Middle East. The International Energy Agency used to cover up the shortage.
However, it is even being emphasized that the oil obtained from the US reserves will not be available at lower prices. Rather, in case of emergencies the price rises substantially.
