It has been recently revealed in a report that there have been lawsuits filed against the federal government by environmentalist groups, for making inappropriate decision on the matter of disposing of the coal ash issue.
It is known that the coal ash is the end product, a waste that is left after coal is burnt for the purpose of producing electricity. There aren’t any staunch res made so far for the disposition of this waste end product that is stored in the Mill Creek power plant as well as the Cane Run plant in Jefferson County.
It is regulate don the state level and this makes it all the more essential for proper methods of disposing the same, before it proves to be harmful for the people of the vicinity.
The environmentalist firms put across this lawsuit in a district court in the U. S. recently. It was revealed by Mr. Jennifer Peterson from the Environmental Integrity Project that those landfills and ponds that are being used as storage places for this ash are harming the environment greatly. They are having a very negative impact on the air of the atmosphere ad this is why there is dire need for steps to be taken for the proper disposition of the same.
The delay has been long enough so we are heading to court to seek an order from the court that would require EPA to complete the review and revise the regulations as soon as possible”, she added further.
There is need for the government to come up with an ideal way for disposing this industrial waste, so that it doesn’t harm the atmosphere further and doesn’t tend to contribute further in polluting the environment in the time to come.
