Daffodil Appeal for Marie Curie Charity a Success; Funds amounting to £1,400 Raised

Daffodil Appeal for Marie Curie Charity a Success; Funds amounting to £1,400 Rai

On March 1, an appeal for raising funds for the Marie Curie charity’s Daffodil Appeal was launched and since then a large number of activities and initiatives took place up and down the country, for collecting the amount. As a result around £1,400 has been raised in Banchory and this will really help in providing an additional 70 hours of free nursing care to people who cannot afford them.

Upon knowing this, the entire local Marie Curie nurses and fundraisers have shown their gratitude to everyone in Deeside and Donside who in some or the other way has contributed in making this Great Daffodil Appeal a success this year.

Not only in Deeside, but the volunteers came forward at Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City, Moray and many other areas of the North-east also or taking part in this appeal. All of them tried and motivated people for wearing a daffodil pin and making a contribution for supporting the nurses of Marie Curie.

All the money that has been collected from this appeal will be used by the Marie Curie nurses so that they could provide more free care to people who are suffering from terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.

For some people this year’s appeal was the first time to join; but they enjoyed this noble experience to such an extent that many of them had already enrolled their name for the next year collection also.

As said by the Community Fundraiser Carolyn Snedden “We are so grateful for the support shown by the people of the North-east for this year’s Great Daffodil Appeal. The appeal could not have taken place without the help of local volunteers, who have worked very hard to raise funds and awareness of the work of Marie Curie Nurses”.

However, the final figures have not been revealed yet, but according to the early collections it seems to be much better than last year’s amount.
