Moreover, cholesterol is broadly classified into two categories: Low-density lipoproteins (LDL), known as bad cholesterol and high-density lipoproteins (HDL), called good cholesterol.

It has been estimated that the lowering rates encountered in case of cholesterol are due to the reason that majority of the population of America consumes drugs that lower the levels of cholesterol in the body. Moreover, it has been recorded that the smoking rates have fallen to a much higher extent.

Moreover, it has been revealed that the government played an important role in declining the cholesterol levels, as it sets a goal of achieving no more than 17% of adults facing the problem of high cholesterol.

As a consequence, the men were able to achieve it 10 years ago, while the women achieved it five years ago.

The latest figures, which illustrate that only 13% of the American population suffers from the condition, assure that the people, are consuming healthy diets, they are active and it even reflects that they are using prescribed drugs to lower the risk.

Though, the previous reports regarding the condition stated that a majority of deaths in the US were administered due to high cholesterol, which leads to heart problems, including strokes and heart attacks.

But a survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2009 and 2010 depicted that there was a decline of 27% in the mortality rate administered due to high cholesterol levels.
