Norovirus Scar Led to Closure of 8 Wards at a Scotland Hospital

In the wake of rising number of cases of norovirus infection, eight wards at a hospital have been shut down. It was done after Scotland's largest health board examined the dithering situation. While two patients have already lost their life, it had become all the more imperative for the authorities concerned to take the corrective measures so that situation can be stabilized.

It was even confirmed by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde that the two patients had died at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, Renfrewshire, due to the underlying infection. There have been slew of reports in the same context and that’s what makes it all the more urgent for the authorities concerned to take notice of the same and manage the crisis in hand.

There are words of caution sent for visitors to make them aware about the need of maintaining a level of hygiene in case they really want to save themselves from the scar of the winter vomiting bug.

Since the infection starts immediately and subsequently affects one badly, there is need for one and all to understand the symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting. "Norovirus is a particularly prevalent virus common in the community and healthcare settings. We would also ask that visitors are restricted to close family and friends”, said Dr. Teresa Inkster, a microbiologist for the health board.
