New Research Might Help In Benefitting Dementia Patients

It has been recently revealed in a report that the new discovery of those brain cells which are responsible for putting a controlling check on the microglia as well as the immunity of a person shall soon be able to help find a cure for the degenerative disease dementia in the time to come. This is a disease that tends to affect people with growing age and this is why there is need for a thorough research to be done about the matter so that it can be determined whether or not a cure for the same can be found in the future.

“Ageing slows the production of new nerve cells, reducing the brain’s ability to form new memories. But our research shows for the first time that the brain cells usually responsible for mediating immunity, microglia, have an inhibitory effect on memory during ageing”, said team leader Dr. Jana Vukovic.

It remains to be seen how this new study shall work for the benefit of the elderly in the time to come, and how it shall stave off the risk of dementia for them in the future. This is going to be a really positive step for the development of new research for the elderly patients.
