The transit of Venus to be seen on June 6 by a large number of people has been explained once again by Association of Bangalore Amateur Astronomers (ABAA), a report has found. It is aiming at promoting astronomy as well as cautioning viewers.
It has been told by Jayanth Basavarajaiah, the associations’ president that they have been preparing to set up telescopes and the projections so as to project the images. Also, they are planning to provide people with proper education about the transit at that time.
The team of astronomers has been suggesting that certainly the transit can be seen with naked eye, but solar goggles or a device with projected screen is only preferred. It says that such a device displays the object in enlarged size and better resolution. The ‘teardrop effect’, a type of image, cannot even be seen without solar goggles, told the team.
The transit would be seen at dawn and the images will be projected in the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, as per the findings. Also, the team would pack up by 10 am.
"For centuries, the Transit of Venus has been one of the great moments for astronomers. 2012 will not be an exception to the rule. It is a one-off opportunity", said Claude Catala, head of Paris Observatory.
