WHO Organizes No Tobacco Campaign

WHO would again be celebrating the World No Tobacco Day on 31 May like each year, which aims at targeting smoking and stamping out the same, a report has revealed recently.

The campaign is organized all over the world with the support of some other groups, including Roche's cancer education platform. The group has been asking volunteers to come forward and join them, thereby helping them to raise awareness about the evil.

It has been found that it has been inviting all smokers as well, asking them to leave smoking for that day. Smokers are being encouraged to prove themselves as "too cool to smoke” guys by wearing sunglasses.

The WHO aims at educating about the harms of smoking on the body, as well as about benefits of quitting the habit. Also, Roche wants people to be aware of dangers of second-hand smoke as well.

The World Cancer Report by WHO has revealed that 80% of total lung cancer diagnoses is the result of cigarette smoking. Also, certain heart diseases are also seen as an after-effect of smoking or chewing tobacco.

Dr. Cindy Aitton, head of medical affairs at Roche, says, “There's no safe level of smoking or exposure to second-hand smoke. This is why governments have made the decision to prohibit smoking in public areas”.
